KARKUTEILLÄ | ON THE SLY

Joka perjantai kuusivuotias Cathy joutuu lähtemään vanhempiensa kanssa maalle. Cathya ei huvittaisi lähteä, koska hänellä ei ole maalla mitään tekemistä. Vanhemmat eivät edes huomaa häntä. He eivät peittele häntä nukkumaan eivätkä herätä aamulla. Isä lähtee kalastamaan ilman häntä. Viimeinen pisara on, kun isä ajaa ruohonleikkurilla Cathyn istuttamien taikasiementen yli eikä edes huomaa sitä. Kun vanhemmat lähtevät takaisin kaupunkiin, Cathy päättää jäädä ja piiloutua metsään.

Karkuteillä on Olivier Ringerin toinen pitkä elokuva. Se on voittanut useita palkintoja Montrealin kansainvälisellä lastenelokuvafestivaalilla. Ringerin esikoisohjaus Varsa esitettiin Oulun festivaalilla 2007.

Every Friday afternoon six-year-old Cathy has to leave for the countryside with her parents. She wouldn’t really want to go, since there seems to be nothing for her to do. Her parents ignore her to the point of her becoming invisible. They don’t tuck her in at night or wake her up in the morning. Her father goes fishing without her. The last straw is when her father drives a lawnmower over the magic seeds she has planted, and doesn’t even notice. When the parents leave for the town again, Cathy decides to stay and hide in the forest.

On the Sly is Olivier Ringer's second feature. It has won several awards at the Montreal International Children’s Film Festival. His first feature film Pom le poulain was screened at the Oulu festival in 2007.
