HYVITYS | COOL MA

Elokuva kertoo perhettään vastaan kapinoivan Tanguon ja juoksijapoika Cool Man yllättävästä ystävyydestä. Tarina alkaa tappelusta, jossa tilannetta rauhoittamaan tullut Cool Ma joutuukin Tanguon veitsen tielle. Cool Ma kuolee vammoihinsa, mutta hänen haamunsa ei saa rauhaa. Hänen äitinsä on sekaisin surusta, ja hänen juoksuvalmentajaansa uhkaa erottaminen. Cool Ma huomaa, että hänen tappajansa Tanguo on ainoa joka voi auttaa häntä. Saadakseen anteeksi Cool Man äidiltä Tanguo joutuu muuttamaan asennettaan ja juoksemaan maratonin.

Yhdysvalloissa elokuvakoulutuksensa saanut Shaudi Wang (s. 1953) tunnetaan paitsi monipuolisesta, animaatiosta dokumentteihin yltävästä tuotannostaan myös uusien taiwanilaiskykyjen mentorina.

The movie tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a rebelling teen girl Tanguo and a promising marathon runner Cool Ma. The story begins with a fight, where peaceful Cool Ma gets accidentally slashed by Tanguo. Cool Ma dies, but his ghost finds no rest. His mother is maddened by sorrow and his running coach is about to lose his job. Tanguo is the only one who sees Cool Ma, and therefore the only one who can help him. In order to get absolution from Cool Ma's mother Tanguo has to change her attitude and run a marathon.

U.S.-trained Shaudi Wang (b. 1953) is known not only for her varied output ranging from animation to documentaries but also as a mentor to young Taiwanese talent.
