• The 39th International Children's and Youth Film Festival will take place from 16 to 22 November 2020 in Oulu as an independent festival.
  • The Oulu Film Centre is responsible for the management and organization of the Festival.
  • The International Children's and Youth Film Festival is organised for children and adults. The main goal of the Festival is to introduce new trends in films for children and young people and to find distributors for films for children and young people in Finland, also in television.
  • The main programme (Children's Film Competition) of the Festival is limited to 15 films.
  • The films should not be shorter than 45 minutes to be in competitive series (only exception is Finnish Competition). Eligible formats are 35 mm and 16 mm film, DCP, digital copies in HD, blu-ray and DVD.
  • Festival's policy is not to pay screening fees.
  • Films which are in competition will be screened max. three times and if the film wins 1-2 award screenings in addition to competition screenings.
  • All submissions and screeners must arrive by 5 August 2020 to the following address:

  • The entry form must be accompanied by a dialogue list, if possible in German or English, some stills, posters and further press material, as well as a short biography, a filmography and a photo of the film's director.
  • The films for the Festival are selected by the Festival management.
  • Digital copies and film prints are to be in Oulu 11 September 2020.
  • The films are to be sent to the following address:

  • Preview screeners should be sent if possible. Digital copies and film prints should remain with Festival organization until the Festival closes.
  • Digital copies and film prints should be sent by air freight to Oulu freight prepaid. The copies and prints will be returned at the Festival organizers' cost within three weeks after the Festival if not agreed otherwise.
  • The Festival grants the Children's Film Award in Children’s Film Competition, Global Future Award in Youth Film Competition, Katso minuun... Award in Finnish Competition and ECFA Award for the best European Film in Children’s Film Competition.
